​Blake Sennett is an American musician and former child actor, renowned for his contributions to the indie rock scene and his early television roles.​

 

Early Life and Acting Career

Born on September 22, 1973, in San Diego, California, Sennett began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor. He appeared in several television shows during the late 1980s and early 1990s, including "Salute Your Shorts" and "Boy Meets World," where he played the character Joseph "Joey the Rat" Epstein. During his acting career, he was credited under the names Blake Soper and Blake Swendson. ​

 

Transition to Music

In the late 1990s, Sennett shifted his focus from acting to music. He co-founded the indie rock band Rilo Kiley in 1998 alongside Jenny Lewis. As the lead guitarist, Sennett contributed to the band's distinctive sound, which garnered a dedicated following. Rilo Kiley released several albums, including "Take-Offs and Landings" (2001), "The Execution of All Things" (2002), "More Adventurous" (2004), and "Under the Blacklight" (2007).

 

Side Projects and Collaborations

Beyond Rilo Kiley, Sennett pursued other musical endeavors. He formed the band The Elected, serving as the lead singer and guitarist. The Elected released three albums: "Me First" (2004), "Sun, Sun, Sun" (2006), and "Bury Me In My Rings" (2011). In 2012, Sennett collaborated with Jarrod Gorbel to create the duo Night Terrors of 1927, blending synth-pop and indie rock elements.

 

Later Career and Personal Life

After taking a hiatus from music around 2010, Sennett explored other creative avenues, including writing and directing. He later returned to music with Night Terrors of 1927. As of recent years, Sennett has been residing in Nashville and has been involved in real estate ventures.
