Blanck Mass
Biography
Blanck Mass is the electronic music project of English musician and composer Benjamin John Power, born in Worcester, England. Power is also known as one half of the experimental electronic duo Fuck Buttons, which he formed with Andrew Hung. Under the Blanck Mass name, he has developed a distinctive style combining electronic noise, ambient textures, heavy rhythms, and cinematic soundscapes.
Power launched Blanck Mass in 2010, initially exploring a more atmospheric and experimental direction than his work with Fuck Buttons. His early releases included Blanck Mass (2011) and Chornobyl (2012), followed by albums such as Dumb Flesh (2015), World Eater (2017), Animated Violence Mild (2019), and In Ferneaux (2021).
Blanck Mass has also composed music for film and television. His screen work includes the supernatural thriller series The Rig, for which he created the original score. His music helped establish the show's eerie and unsettling atmosphere, complementing its themes of isolation, mystery, and supernatural forces.
In addition to composing, Power has released numerous solo albums and collaborated with other musicians and filmmakers. His work is characterized by an experimental approach that blends electronic music with industrial, orchestral, and ambient elements.
Through Blanck Mass, Benjamin John Power has become recognized as an influential figure in contemporary experimental electronic music, while his work in film and television has expanded his distinctive sound into cinematic storytelling.
