Biography

Bob Gale is an American screenwriter and film producer best known for co-writing the "Back to the Future" trilogy with his longtime collaborator, Robert Zemeckis.   

 

 

Born in University City, Missouri, Gale's passion for filmmaking led him to the University of Southern California, where he studied cinema and met Zemeckis. Their collaboration began early in their careers, resulting in films like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (1978) and "Used Cars" (1980).   

 

 

However, it was the "Back to the Future" trilogy (1985-1990) that solidified their legacy. Gale's witty dialogue and imaginative contributions to the time-travel concept played a crucial role in the films' success. He continued to work with Zemeckis on other projects, including "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988) and "1941" (1979).   

 

 

Beyond screenwriting, Gale has also ventured into directing, helming films like "Interstate 60" (2002) and "Mr. Payback: An Interactive Movie" (1995).
