B.Rakesh

Biography

B. Rakesh is an Indian film and television producer who predominantly works in the Malayalam entertainment industry. He is also the owner of Universal Cinemas and has been active in the industry for more than two decades. He was born in Chadayamangalam in Kollam district, Kerala, as the elder son of G. Bahuleyan and P. Leelabai.

 

 

Rakesh began his career in television production and became associated with some of the early landmark programmes in Malayalam television. He produced Vamsham, regarded as the first Malayalam mega-serial, written by K. Jayakumar IAS. His television credits also include programmes for Doordarshan such as Chitrageetham and Smrithylayam.

 

 

He went on to produce several notable television serials, including Parudeesayilakkoru Paatha, Balyakalasmaranakal directed by Lenin Rajendran and based on the writings of Madhavikutty, and the 260-episode serial Suryakanthi. His serial Eswaran Saakshiyaai, telecast on Flowers TV in 2015, received five major Kerala State Television Awards, including recognition for Best Serial and Best Director. He also produced the popular C.B.I. serial for Mazhavil Manorama.

 

 

Alongside television, B. Rakesh established himself as a film producer, backing several successful Malayalam movies under his production banner. His filmography includes Vakkalathu Narayanankutty, Njan Salperu Ramankutty, Malayalimaamanu Vanakkam, Rathrimazha, One by Two, Pullikkaran Staraa, and Sakhavu.

 

 

With extensive experience across both television and cinema, B. Rakesh has made a significant contribution to Malayalam entertainment through his long-running career as a producer.
