Brit Marling, born on 7 August 1982 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, is an American actress, screenwriter, producer, and director. She graduated from Georgetown University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in economics and initially received a job offer from Goldman Sachs, but chose to pursue a career in the arts instead.
Marling gained recognition for starring in and co-writing independent films such as Another Earth (2011), Sound of My Voice (2011), and The East (2013). These films established her as a prominent writer-performer in independent cinema.
Her biggest television breakthrough came with The OA (2016–2019), which she co-created and co-wrote with Zal Batmanglij. Marling also starred as Prairie Johnson/OA, a mysterious woman whose return after seven years launches a complex supernatural and science-fiction mystery.
In 2023, Marling co-created, wrote, executive-produced, and starred in the mystery thriller A Murder at the End of the World, playing amateur detective Darby Hart.
