Biography
B. Saroja Devi (born 7 January 1938) is an Indian actress and one of the most celebrated stars in the history of South Indian cinema. She has worked in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, appearing in more than 190 films over a career spanning six decades. Known for her elegance, expressive performances, and versatility, she was among the highest-paid actresses of the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s.
Born in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, Saroja Devi made her acting debut in the Kannada film Mahakavi Kalidasa. She rose to prominence with a series of successful films across South India and soon established herself as one of the leading actresses of her generation.
Her notable films include Nadodi Mannan, Kalyana Parisu, Palum Pazhamum, Enga Veettu Pillai, Anbe Vaa, Sasural, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, and Aatma Balam.
Throughout her career, she worked with many legendary actors, including M. G. Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, N. T. Rama Rao, Rajkumar, and Rajendra Kumar.
B. Saroja Devi has received numerous honors for her contribution to Indian cinema, including the Padma Shri (1969) and the Padma Bhushan (1992).
