Cha Cheong Hwa

Biography

Cha Chung-hwa is a South Korean actress, born on April 28, 1980, in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She began her acting career in musical and theater productions before moving into film and television, where she became known for her expressive performances and strong comedic timing.

She gained widespread recognition through Crash Landing on You (2019–2020), in which she played Yang Ok-geum, one of the village women in North Korea. Her performance brought her considerable attention and helped establish her as a popular supporting actress.

Cha later appeared in Mr. Queen (2020–2021) as Court Lady Choi, delivering a memorable comic performance alongside Shin Hye-sun and Kim Jung-hyun. She continued to take on supporting roles in dramas such as Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021), Why Her? (2022), See You in My 19th Life (2023), and The Uncanny Counter 2 (2023).

Her film credits include Train to Busan (2016), The Bros (2017), Pawn (2020), and The Roundup (2022). She has demonstrated versatility across comedy, romance, action, thriller, and historical productions.

In The Haunted Palace (2025), Cha Chung-hwa appears in the supernatural historical drama set during the Joseon era. The series follows Yeo-ri, a woman with the ability to communicate with spirits, and Gang Cheol, an Imugi connected to her, as they confront a powerful vengeful spirit haunting the royal palace.
