Biography
Chandrashekhar Vaidya (7 July 1923 – 16 June 2021), popularly known simply as Chandrashekhar, was an Indian actor, producer, and director who worked primarily in Hindi cinema. He appeared in more than 100 films over a career spanning six decades and was known for his versatile performances in leading, supporting, and character roles.
Chandrashekhar began his acting career in the 1950s and featured in films such as Cha Cha Cha (1964), Street Singer (1966), King Kong (1962), and Barsaat Ki Raat (1960). In addition to acting, he successfully ventured into filmmaking, directing and producing popular films including Cha Cha Cha and Street Singer. His work as a filmmaker earned him recognition for creating entertaining musical and romantic films.
Throughout his long career, Chandrashekhar remained a respected figure in the Indian film industry, contributing both in front of and behind the camera. He passed away on 16 June 2021 in Mumbai, leaving behind a legacy as one of Hindi cinema's veteran actors and filmmakers.
