Chaneil Kular

Biography

Chaneil Kular was born on August 20, 1999, in England to parents of Indian descent. He pursued his passion for the performing arts by studying theatre and film at Bristol University.

 

Career Highlights

Kular made his acting debut in 2018 with a recurring role as Tariq Amiri in the BBC soap opera Doctors. That same year, he appeared in an episode of the BBC One drama series Informer as a pizza delivery boy.

 

His breakthrough came in 2019 when he was cast as Anwar Bakshi in the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education. Anwar, a gay student of Indian heritage, is a member of the popular clique known as "the Untouchables." Kular portrayed this character from 2019 to 2021, gaining international recognition.

 

In 2020, Kular appeared as Dilip Rai in the BBC One drama series Black Narcissus. He continued to expand his television portfolio with a guest role as Cammy in an episode of the American FX series Atlanta in 2022.

 

Kular made his feature film debut in 2023, playing the lead role of Harri Bhavsar in the thriller Accused, directed by Philip Barantini. The film and his performance received critical acclaim.

In 2024, he portrayed DS Raj Kholi in the crime drama series Protection and had a guest role as Manish in The Cleaner .
