Biography

Charlie Day is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and musician best known for his quick wit, high-energy performances, and sharp comedic timing. He was born on February 9, 1976, in New York City, USA, and raised in Middletown, Rhode Island.

Day is of Irish and Italian descent. He attended Merrimack College in Massachusetts, where he earned a degree in art history and took part in the school’s theater program. His passion for acting and performance grew during college, where he also developed his musical talents, particularly as a pianist and guitarist.

Career

Charlie Day began his acting career in the late 1990s with guest roles on television series such as Law & Order and Third Watch. His big breakthrough came in 2005 when he co-created and starred in the FX comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where he plays the lovable yet chaotic Charlie Kelly.

The show, which he developed with Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton, became one of the longest-running live-action sitcoms in U.S. television history. Known for its edgy humor and unconventional storytelling, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia earned Day critical praise and a devoted global fanbase. He also serves as a writer and executive producer on the series.
