Chetan Bhagat is an Indian author, columnist, screenwriter, and motivational speaker. He was born on April 22, 1974, in New Delhi, India. Bhagat is widely recognized for his contemporary fiction novels that often deal with themes relevant to the youth and modern Indian society. Chetan Bhagat completed his education in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, followed by an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. He worked in the finance industry for several years before transitioning to writing.

Bhagat gained immense popularity with his debut novel, "Five Point Someone," which was published in 2004. The book, set in an engineering college, explored the challenges and pressures faced by students in the Indian education system. The novel was well-received for its humor, relatability, and critique of the education system.

 

He followed up with several other best-selling novels, including:

"One Night @ the Call Center" (2005): This novel revolves around a group of call center employees and their personal and professional struggles.

"The 3 Mistakes of My Life" (2008): This book tells the story of three friends who start a business against the backdrop of significant events in Indian history.

"2 States: The Story of My Marriage" (2009): A love story that explores the cultural differences between a couple from two different Indian states.

"Revolution 2020" (2011): This novel deals with issues of corruption, love, and ambition in the context of India's education system.

"Half Girlfriend" (2014): The story revolves around a young man from Bihar and his complex relationship with a girl who has her own reservations about committing fully to the relationship.
