Chiara Bordi

Biography

Chiara Bordi, born on September 1, 2000, in Tarquinia, Viterbo, Italy, is an Italian actress, model, and disability-rights advocate. She graduated from classical high school in 2019 and later began studying Orthopedic Techniques at Sapienza University of Rome.

Bordi gained national attention in 2018 when, at the age of 18, she competed in Miss Italy, becoming the first contestant with a prosthetic leg to reach the final stages of the competition. She used the platform to promote the idea that physical differences can represent strength rather than limitations. After losing her left leg in an accident at the age of 13, she became an important voice for inclusion and representation.

Following Miss Italy, Bordi appeared on television and radio programs in Italy and abroad, participated in advertising campaigns, and spoke at events focused on inclusion and diversity. She also became a TEDx speaker and was involved in initiatives in countries including China and Thailand. In 2019, she received the Alfiere della Repubblica honor from Italian President Sergio Mattarella for her positive contribution to society.

That same year, Bordi co-founded Bionic People, an association dedicated to supporting and informing people living with disabilities and other physical conditions.

Her acting career developed alongside her advocacy work. In 2021, she joined the main cast of Prisma, the coming-of-age series created by Ludovico Bessegato and produced by Amazon Studios and Cross Productions. Through her work in entertainment and activism, Bordi has become a notable advocate for diversity, accessibility, and authentic representation on screen.
