McBride originally pursued a career in music before turning to acting. He gained wider recognition with his role as Emerson Cod in the television series Pushing Daisies and became known for his distinctive voice and commanding screen presence.
His film career includes appearances in The Terminal (2004), I, Robot (2004), The Frighteners (1996), Mercury Rising (1998), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), and Undercover Brother (2002). In Mercury Rising, he appeared alongside Bruce Willis in the story of an FBI agent who protects an autistic boy targeted by the NSA.
