Choi Sung Geol
Biography
In other words, Choi Gee-sung is a prominent South Korean corporate leader who played a key role in the growth of Samsung Electronics. Born in 1951 in Chuncheon, he studied business at Seoul National University before joining Samsung and rising through the company's ranks.
During his career, Choi worked in design, semiconductor development, and international operations, helping establish Samsung's chip business in Europe. He later became known for his marketing expertise and was widely credited with leading Samsung's television division to overtake Sony as the world's leading TV brand in 2006. In 2007, he took charge of Samsung's mobile phone business, overseeing significant growth in the company's global market share and strengthening its position as one of the world's top mobile device manufacturers. He also represented Samsung as a torchbearer during the relay for the 2004 Summer Olympics.
