Chris Bacon, born Christian Paul Bacon on March 17, 1977, in Provo, Utah, is an American composer renowned for his work across film and television. Known for his versatility, Bacon has lent his musical talents to a wide range of genres, from animated features to intense dramas and sci-fi thrillers.
Early Life and Education:
From a young age, Bacon had a clear ambition to compose film music. He began his musical journey learning piano and saxophone. He pursued a Bachelor's Degree in music composition from Brigham Young University and further honed his skills at the University of Southern California's Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program. A pivotal part of his early career was interning under the esteemed film composer James Newton Howard, an experience Bacon credits as his most valuable musical training.
Career in Film and Television:
Bacon's career began with contributions as an orchestrator and additional music composer on various projects, including some of James Newton Howard's scores. His solo debut as a film composer was for the 2007 Lifetime film Angels Fall.
Since then, Bacon has established a prolific career, with notable scores for films such as the thriller Source Code (2011), the animated features Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) and Sherlock Gnomes (2018), and the action-comedy Men in Black: International (2019).
