Biography
Constance Marie is an American actress born on September 9, 1965, in East Los Angeles, California. She began her career as a dancer and was selected to perform with David Bowie during his 1987 Glass Spider Tour. She later transitioned into acting, making her screen debut as a dancer in Salsa (1988) and gaining an early television role in Dirty Dancing.
Marie gained wider recognition through films such as My Family (1995), Selena (1997), and Tortilla Soup (2001). In Selena, she portrayed Marcela Quintanilla, the mother of singer Selena Quintanilla, earning praise for her performance.
Her major television breakthrough came with the ABC sitcom George Lopez (2002–2007), in which she played Angie Lopez, the wife of George Lopez. The role brought her an Imagen Award for Best Actress in Television Comedy and several other award nominations.
Marie later starred as Regina Vasquez in the family drama series Switched at Birth (2011–2017), a role that earned her an Imagen Award, an ALMA Award, and a Gracie Allen Award. She also appeared in Law & Order: True Crime, With Love, and the animated series Elena of Avalor.
