Dan Bucatinsky is an American actor, writer, producer, and author, born on September 22, 1965, in New York City. He graduated from Vassar College and began his entertainment career as an actor before expanding into screenwriting and television production.
Bucatinsky gained recognition as the writer, producer, and star of the 2001 independent romantic comedy All Over the Guy. He later became closely associated with Lisa Kudrow, with whom he co-created and produced the acclaimed comedy series The Comeback and Web Therapy. He has also worked as a producer on programs including Grey's Anatomy, Lipstick Jungle, Who Do You Think You Are?, and 25 Words or Less.
As an actor, Bucatinsky is particularly known for portraying James Novak on the ABC political drama Scandal. His performance earned him the 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He has also appeared in The Baker and the Beauty, 24: Legacy, Marry Me, Second Act, The Post, Air, Our Little Secret, and Hacks.
