Daniel Attias

Biography

Daniel Attias is an American television director and producer, born on December 4, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. He began his career studying acting before earning an MFA in film production from UCLA. He also completed the Directors Guild of America’s Assistant Directors Training Program and worked as an assistant director on films including E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Airplane!, One from the Heart, and Hammett.

Attias made his feature-film directorial debut with Silver Bullet (1985), a horror film based on Stephen King's novella. Afterward, he focused primarily on television directing, working on a wide range of acclaimed series. His credits include Miami Vice, The Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Alias, Lost, True Blood, The Americans, Homeland, The Walking Dead, True Detective, The Boys, Billions, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

For his work on The Wire, Attias won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series in 2009. He has also received multiple DGA nominations and two Primetime Emmy nominations for directing episodes of Entourage.

In 2023, Attias directed episodes of The Consultant, Rabbit Hole, and Lucky Hank. His later television work includes Tell Me Lies, where he directed two episodes and also served as an executive producer.

With a career spanning several decades, Daniel Attias has become a respected television director known for his work on critically acclaimed dramas, comedies, thrillers, and genre series.
