Daniel Mann was an American film director and television director known for his work in drama, comedy, and musical films.
He was born Daniel Mannix on June 8, 1912, in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career in theatre and later moved into filmmaking, becoming known for his work with major Hollywood actors.
His notable films include Come Back, Little Sheba (1952), The Rose Tattoo (1955), Hot Spell (1958), The Last Angry Man (1959), The Dark at the Top of the Stairs (1960), The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956), and Judgment at Nuremberg (1961).
Mann frequently adapted successful stage productions for the screen. Come Back, Little Sheba earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director, while actress Shirley Booth won the Oscar for her performance in the film.
He also directed numerous television productions during the later part of his career.
Daniel Mann died on November 21, 1991, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 79.
