Darren Criss (born February 5, 1987) is an American actor, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who first captured global attention for his portrayal of Blaine Anderson in the hit musical television series "Glee."   

 

 

Born in San Francisco, California, Criss displayed an early aptitude for music and theater. He co-founded StarKid Productions during his time at the University of Michigan, where he wrote and starred in several popular musical parodies, most notably "A Very Potter Musical."   

 

 

His career trajectory shifted dramatically when he joined the cast of "Glee" in its second season. His character, Blaine, became a fan favorite, and his musical performances on the show garnered widespread acclaim. Criss's rendition of "Teenage Dream" became a cultural phenomenon and propelled him into the mainstream. During his time on "Glee," he also continued his work with StarKid Productions and made his Broadway debut in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
