Biography

David Castañeda was born on 24 October 1989 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is a Mexican-American actor who was raised in Sinaloa, Mexico, before returning to the United States at age 14. He studied film production and international business at California State University, Fullerton, graduating in 2015.

 

Castañeda began acting professionally with small roles in television and films, including Lie to Me, Southland, End of Watch, and Freaks of Nature. He later appeared in Switched at Birth, Jane the Virgin, and Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018), where he played Hector.

 

His breakthrough came with Netflix's The Umbrella Academy (2019–2024), in which he portrayed Diego Hargreeves / Number Two, a rebellious superhero with the ability to alter the trajectory of moving objects. The role brought him international recognition.

 

His other notable credits include We Die Young (2019), The Tax Collector (2020), The Guilty (2021), Most Dangerous Game, Poker Face (2023), and Ballerina (2025).
