Biography
David Del Rio is an American actor, director, producer, and writer, born on September 29, 1987, in Miami, Florida. Of Colombian-Cuban heritage, he graduated from the New World School of the Arts in Miami and later studied at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
Del Rio began his professional acting career with the Nickelodeon series The Troop, where he played Felix Garcia. He made his Broadway debut as Sonny in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical In the Heights, marking an important step in his career across television and theater.
He subsequently appeared in films and television productions including Pitch Perfect (2012), The Belko Experiment (2016), Undrafted (2016), Grease: Live! (2016), and A California Christmas (2020). He gained further recognition for his role as Mateo Garcia in the ABC romantic comedy-drama series The Baker and the Beauty (2020).
Del Rio later starred as Ben in the Hulu series Maggie (2022). He also joined the cast of the CBS drama Matlock, playing Billy Martinez alongside Kathy Bates and Skye P. Marshall.
Alongside acting, Del Rio has worked behind the camera as a director, producer, and writer.
His directing credits include feature films such as Sick for Toys and Road Head. He also co-founded Theatre Row Productions with his wife and producing partner, Katherine Del Rio.
