Biography

Dean Parisot is an American film and television director known for his work in comedy, science fiction, and action. He was born on May 6, 1952, in Wilton, Connecticut.

Career

Parisot began his directing career in television and became known for his distinctive comedic style. He directed episodes of series such as Northern Exposure, The Tick, and Monk, as well as television films and other productions.

His feature-film breakthrough came with Home Fries (1998), a romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore and Luke Wilson. He later directed the science-fiction comedy Galaxy Quest (1999), starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, and Sam Rockwell. The film became a cult favorite and was widely praised for its affectionate parody of science-fiction television fandom.

Fun with Dick and Jane

Parisot directed Fun with Dick and Jane, starring Jim Carrey and Téa Leoni. The film follows a married couple whose financial situation collapses after the husband's company goes bankrupt. Unable to recover financially, they turn to robbery and target the corrupt businessman they hold responsible for their troubles.

The film was a commercial success and showcased Parisot's ability to combine social satire with mainstream comedy.

Later Work

Parisot continued directing both films and television. His later feature credits include Red 2 (2013), starring Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren, and Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020), which reunited Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as the iconic time-traveling duo.
