Biography
Debaloy Dey, who has vast experience in the film and TV industry, is an inspiration for a lot of youngsters. He had motivated a lot of people in various projects to achieve their goals. He has vast experience in Mass Communication in the Film and TV Industry. Debaloy got his bachelor's degree in English from Utkal University in Orissa.
He did his Post-Graduation course in film direction at The Film And Television Institute Of India, Pune. Debaloy’s movie, The Fourth Dimension, which was critically acclaimed was screened in the Turin Film Festival, Italy, and Riverside Film Festival, London. It was also screened at the first Bombay Short Film Festival. Besides this, The Fourth Dimension had been screened at the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune, as a study film for the Film Appreciation Course.
From October 1989 to June 1991, he assisted Shekar Kapur in commercials. He had also worked with Shekar Kapur in scripting. His first film opportunity came in the year 1993 with the biggies “Sridevi” and Salman Khan. The film is Chandra Mukhi (1993), a fantasy romantic drama, and Salman Khan penned it.
After the fantasy drama, Debaloy switched over to the TV industry and directed more than 600 episodes of “Swabhimaan,” the popular TV series telecast on Doordarshan. From August to October 1997, Debaloy conducted the Acting Workshop in Vienna with actors from The Summer Academy. In 1998, he directed “Nazdikiyan,” a TV series of 150 episodes for Sony India Television.
Besides Swabhimaan (1995) and Nazdikiyan, Debaloy has directed eight episodes of the TV Series, Akash on Zee Satellite Television. He also worked in the TV Series Ret ka Dariya, Kshitj, Sparsh -Ek Ahsaas, and Ranjish with the editorial responsibilities of TV Software. Debaloy had worked in Toronto, Canada, in Films and TV.
He had also directed an English film, King’s Cross. He owns the production house Working Dey Films and has produced and helmed Vodafone tubes 9 to 14 for Vodafone which showcased their business achievements. He had worked with Vodafone on various internal projects. In 2014, he directed Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai (2014), the horror-thriller that has Bhanu Uday, Swara Bhaskar, and Murli Sharma in the lead roles.
