Deepak Kumar Padhy

Biography

Dipak Kumar Padhy is an Indian cinematographer. Dipak Kumar Padhy was born in the city of Chennai. His father, Saroj Padhy, is a well-known cinematographer who has worked for filmmakers such as Bharathan, Bhadran, Shaji Kailash, and Hariharan, while his mother, Rajalashmi Padhy, is a housewife. Dipak's interest in films expanded significantly during his childhood, as he witnessed his father's aptitude in cinematography. 

 

His father motivated and encouraged him to pursue a career as a cameraman. He attended the Krishna Swami Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai as well as the Devi Academy Senior Secondary School in Chennai. He was passionate about photography and filmmaking, despite being the son of a well-known cinematographer. He enrolled in the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu to study cinematography. 

 

Dipak worked as an assistant cinematographer during his school days with his father and after completing institute he worked as an assistant cinematographer in the English film "White Rainbow" and the Tamil film "Vishwa Thulasi" under the supervision of B.Kannan. He worked with Rajiv Menon for a few advertisements; he worked as an associate cameraman with cinematographer Priyan on the films "Vallavan" and "Aaru," and later became involved in the advertising film industry. 

 

Then he made his feature film debut as an independent cinematographer in Shankar Paniker's Malayalam flick "Kaati". As a dedicated cinematographer, he has worked on over fourteen films. His experience has taught him that to engulf their emotions and leave a lasting impact; he must first acclimatize to the minds of moviegoers and then feast on visual pleasures. He is well-known for his films' eye-catching imagery and unique technological assumptions.
