Deepika Amin, born Deepika Deshpande on September 13, 1967, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is a versatile Indian actress known for her work across film, television, and theatre. She hails from a culturally rich family; her paternal grandfather, Atmaram Ravaji Deshpande, was a Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Marathi poet, and her grandmother, Kusumavati Deshpande, was a noted writer and English literature professor.
Her father, Ulhas Deshpande, served as an Air Vice Marshal in the Indian Air Force, and her mother, Kshama Deshpande, is a Kathak dancer trained under Gopi Krishna. Deepika pursued her education in Delhi, attending Loreto Convent and earning an honors degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University.
