While pursuing electrical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Ekambaram received a call that would change his life's trajectory. The assistants of renowned composer A.R. Rahman invited him for a voice audition, leading to his debut song, "O Maria," for the Tamil film Kadhalar Dhinam, sung alongside Yugendran. This unexpected opportunity marked the beginning of his illustrious career in the music industry.
