Donna Tartt (born 1963) is an acclaimed American novelist known for her meticulously crafted narratives, richly drawn characters, and suspenseful storytelling. Born in Greenwood, Mississippi, Tartt grew up in a literary environment and developed an early love for reading and writing. She attended the University of Mississippi and later the University of Mississippi’s University Honors Program before transferring to Bennington College in Vermont, where she studied under distinguished writers and honed her craft.

Tartt’s debut novel, The Secret History (1992), became a cult classic, exploring themes of intellectual ambition, moral corruption, and the consequences of obsession among a group of elite college students.
