Biography
Drew Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975, in Culver City, California, into the legendary Barrymore acting family. She is the daughter of actor John Drew Barrymore and actress Jaid Barrymore, and the granddaughter of acclaimed actor John Barrymore. Raised amidst Hollywood royalty, Drew's early life was marked by both immense fame and personal challenges.
Career
Drew Barrymore began acting as a child and made her film debut at age five in Altered States (1980). She rose to fame at age seven with her iconic role as Gertie in Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), earning her widespread recognition.
However, her early stardom led to personal struggles, including substance abuse, which she later documented in her autobiography Little Girl Lost (1990). By her late teens, Barrymore successfully reinvented herself, taking on edgier roles in films like Poison Ivy (1992), Guncrazy (1992), and Boys on the Side (1995).
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, she emerged as a romantic comedy star with hits such as The Wedding Singer (1998), Never Been Kissed (1999), and 50 First Dates (2004), often collaborating with Adam Sandler. She also starred in the action-comedy Charlie’s Angels (2000) and its sequel, which she co-produced under her production company, Flower Films.
Barrymore made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Whip It (2009) and won a Golden Globe for her performance in HBO’s Grey Gardens (2009).
Other Ventures
Beyond acting, Barrymore is a successful producer, director, and talk show host. She launched The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020, combining her charm with lifestyle and celebrity interviews. She also created a popular beauty brand, Flower Beauty, reflecting her entrepreneurial spirit.
