Biography

Durjoy Datta, born on February 7, 1987, in Mehsana, Gujarat, and raised in New Delhi, is a prominent Indian author, screenwriter, and entrepreneur. He completed his schooling at Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura, and pursued mechanical engineering at Delhi Technological University. He further obtained postgraduate degrees from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany.

 

Datta's literary journey began in 2008 with the release of his debut novel, Of Course I Love You...!, co-authored with Maanvi Ahuja, while he was still in college. The book's success propelled him into the limelight, leading to a series of bestselling novels such as Now That You're Rich! (2009), She Broke Up, I Didn't! (2010), Till the Last Breath (2012), The Boy Who Loved (2017), and Wish I Could Tell You (2019). His works often explore themes of love, relationships, and contemporary youth issues, resonating with a wide readership.​

 

In addition to writing, Datta co-founded Grapevine India Publishers in 2011, aiming to promote young literary talent. He has also made significant contributions to Indian television, serving as a screenwriter for popular shows like Sadda Haq – My Life, My Choice (2013–2016), Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi (2016–2017), and Never Kiss Your Best Friend (2020).

 

Recognized for his contributions, Datta has received accolades such as the Crossword Book Award for Popular Choice in fiction for Our Impossible Love (2017) and The Boy Who Loved (2018). He is also a motivational speaker, having delivered talks at various institutions, including TEDx events.

 

On the personal front, Datta is married to Avantika Mohan, a travel blogger and air hostess. They have a daughter named Rayna.
