Edward Anhalt was an American screenwriter and novelist known for his work in Hollywood from the 1940s through the 1980s.
He was born on March 28, 1914, in New York City. Anhalt began his career writing for radio and later became a successful screenwriter. He worked on films across several genres, including drama, crime, war, and adventure.
Some of his notable screenwriting credits include The Sniper (1952), Beau Brummell (1954), The Young Lions (1958), The Satan Bug (1965), and The Madwoman of Chaillot (1969). He also worked on television productions and adapted literary works for the screen.
Anhalt received two Academy Awards for Best Screenplay: for Panic in the Streets (1950) and Becket (1964). His writing was often recognized for its strong character development and dramatic storytelling.
