Biography

Eli Horowitz is an American writer, director, and producer best known as the co-creator of the acclaimed psychological thriller Homecoming. He was born in Virginia and later moved to California. Before entering film and television, he worked in publishing and served as managing editor and later publisher of McSweeney's.

Horowitz co-created the original Homecoming audio drama with Micah Bloomberg. The podcast was later adapted into the Amazon Prime Video television series, with Horowitz serving as a creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner alongside Bloomberg. The series premiered in 2018 and starred Julia Roberts, Janelle Monáe, Stephan James, Hong Chau, and Bobby Cannavale.

Beyond Homecoming, Horowitz has worked on several innovative storytelling projects. He co-created The Silent History, an experimental digital novel, and The Clock Without a Face, an interactive treasure-hunt mystery. His work often combines traditional storytelling with digital and audio formats.

Horowitz made his feature-film directorial debut with Gone in the Night (2022), a mystery thriller starring Winona Ryder, Dermot Mulroney, John Gallagher Jr., Owen Teague, and Brianne Tju. He wrote the screenplay with Matthew Derby and also served as an executive producer.

He has also created and directed audio projects such as The Final Chapters of Richard Brown Winters and Harley Quinn & The Joker: Sound Mind. His career spans television, film, podcasting, digital fiction, publishing, and experimental storytelling.
