Emilia Annis I. Jones, professionally known as Emilia Jones, is a British actress, singer, and performer best known for her critically acclaimed role in the film CODA (2021). She was born on February 23, 2002, in London, England, into a creative family — her father, Aled Jones, is a well-known Welsh singer and broadcaster, and her mother, Claire Fossett, was associated with theatre.
From an early age, Emilia showed a natural flair for performance and began acting professionally as a child, appearing in both television and stage productions.
Career
Emilia Jones began her screen career with small roles in films and television series such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) and Doctor Who, where she played young Merry Gejelh in the episode “The Rings of Akhaten.”
Her breakout came with the Apple TV+ film CODA, where she played Ruby Rossi, the only hearing member of a deaf family who dreams of becoming a singer. Her performance was widely praised for its emotional honesty and depth, earning her multiple award nominations and international recognition. The film went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2022.
