E. Ramdoss
Biography
E. Ramdoss (died 23 January 2023) was an Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor who worked predominantly in Tamil cinema. Born in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, he was active in the film industry from 1979 until his death.
Ramdoss moved to Chennai in 1979 and began his career as a screenwriter. He received his first writing credit for Enakkaga Kaathiru (1981). He later worked as an assistant director with filmmaker Manivannan before getting an opportunity to direct his first feature film.
He made his directorial debut with Aayiram Pookkal Malarattum (1986), starring Mohan and Seetha. He subsequently directed Raaja Raajathan (1989), Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu (1991), Ravanan (1994), and Vaazhga Jananayagam (1996). He also directed a segment of the ensemble film Suyamvaram (1999).
As a writer, Ramdoss contributed to films including Makkal Aatchi (1995), Ethirum Pudhirum (1999), Sangamam (1999), Kanda Naal Mudhal (2005), and Yuga (2006).
He later became widely recognized as a character actor, often portraying police officers and other supporting roles. His notable acting credits include Vasool Raja MBBS (2004), Yuddham Sei (2011), Visaranai (2016), Dharma Durai (2016), Vikram Vedha (2017), Aramm (2017), Miga Miga Avasaram (2019), Naadodigal 2 (2020), and Agent Kannayiram (2022).
E. Ramdoss died in Chennai on 23 January 2023 after suffering a heart attack. He left behind a career spanning directing, screenwriting, and acting, with contributions to several notable Tamil films.
