Biography

Eric Gautier is a French cinematographer known for his work in international and French cinema. He is particularly recognized for his collaborations with acclaimed directors and for his visually expressive approach to filmmaking.

Career

Gautier began his career working in French cinema and gradually established himself as one of the country's prominent cinematographers. His work has covered a wide range of genres and locations, from intimate character dramas to large-scale international productions.

He has frequently collaborated with director Olivier Assayas, serving as director of photography on films such as Irma Vep (1996), Clean (2004), Boarding Gate (2007), and Clouds of Sils Maria (2014).

International Work

Gautier has also worked extensively outside France. His cinematography credits include The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), directed by Walter Salles. The film's expansive South American landscapes and naturalistic visual style became an important part of its identity.

Aloha

Gautier served as cinematographer on Cameron Crowe's romantic comedy-drama Aloha (2015), starring Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, and Alec Baldwin. The film was shot largely in Hawaii and follows military contractor Brian Gilcrest as he returns to Hawaii and becomes involved with military liaison Allison Ng.
