Eric Warren Singer

Biography

Born on August 1, 1968, in Los Angeles, California, Eric Warren Singer has carved a niche for himself as a distinguished American screenwriter and producer. His trajectory from humble beginnings to acclaimed screenwriter is a testament to perseverance and passion.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Singer's foray into the world of storytelling began after a brief stint at Boston University. Returning to Los Angeles, he undertook various jobs, including working as a night shift janitor, which afforded him the flexibility to hone his writing skills during the day. His dedication bore fruit when he sold his first screenplay, "The Sky Is Falling," in the late 1990s, though it remained unproduced.

Breakthrough and Notable Works

It wasn't until 2009 that Singer saw one of his scripts materialize on the big screen with "The International," an action thriller directed by Tom Tykwer. However, it was the 2013 film "American Hustle" that catapulted him into the limelight. Co-written with David O. Russell, the film garnered critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, a BAFTA Award win, and a Golden Globe nomination.

Singer continued to showcase his versatility with "Only the Brave" (2017), a poignant drama about firefighters, and "Top Gun: Maverick" (2022), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Upcoming Projects

Looking ahead, Singer is involved in the upcoming film "Now You See Me: Now You Don't" (2025), contributing as a story writer. Additionally, Sony Pictures acquired "Marita," a project penned by Singer, set to star Jennifer Lawrence, further cementing his status in the industry.
