Biography
An American film producer, Gary Douglas Kurtz is noted for producing films like American Graffiti (1973), Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), The Dark Crystal (1982) and Return to Oz (1985). Having started his career as an assistant director, he worked in films like Monte Hellman, and Ride in the Whirlwind, he then served as a production manager on Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet.
The multiple award-winning producer and a two-time Academy Award nominee, Kurtz made his production debut with American Graffiti in 1973. His other notable feature film production ventures include Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Oz (1985), and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017).
