Biography
Glenn Ficarra is an American screenwriter, director, and producer, born on May 27, 1969, in New Jersey. He studied filmmaking at Pratt Institute, where he met his longtime creative partner John Requa. Together, they began writing for animated television programs before moving into feature films.
Ficarra and Requa co-wrote films such as Cats & Dogs, Bad Santa, and Bad News Bears. They made their directorial debut with I Love You Phillip Morris (2009), followed by Crazy, Stupid, Love., Focus, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
Ficarra became closely associated with the acclaimed family drama This Is Us, serving as an executive producer and directing several episodes, including the pilot and the emotional episode “Super Bowl Sunday.” His work on the series earned multiple Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series.
He has also worked on television projects including Patriot, neXt, WeCrashed, Rabbit Hole, and Paradise. Through his work in film and television, Ficarra has established himself as a versatile writer, director, and producer, particularly known for character-driven stories and comedy-drama.
