G. Marimuthu
Biography
G. Marimuthu (1967–2023) was an Indian film director and actor who predominantly worked in Tamil cinema. Born on 12 July 1967 in Theni, Tamil Nadu, he began his career in the film industry as an assistant director.
He worked with several prominent Tamil filmmakers before making his directorial debut with Kannum Kannum (2008), starring Prasanna and Udhayathara. He later directed Pulivaal (2014), a thriller starring Prasanna and Vimal.
Marimuthu subsequently became widely recognized as an actor. He appeared in numerous Tamil films and television projects, often portraying authoritative, middle-class, or strong-willed characters. Some of his notable acting credits include Pariyerum Perumal, Kadaikutty Singam, Vada Chennai, Jeeva, Doctor, and Vikram.
He also became popular for his role as Guna in the television series Ethirneechal, which brought him a large television audience.
G. Marimuthu died on 8 September 2023 in Chennai at the age of 56 after suffering a cardiac arrest. He is remembered for his distinctive screen presence and his contribution to Tamil cinema as both a filmmaker and actor.
