Biography
Gopika is an Indian actress who predominantly worked in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. Born on 1 February 1984 in Thrissur, Kerala, her birth name is Girly Anto. She began her career as a model before entering the film industry.
Gopika made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Pranayamanithooval (2002), in which she appeared alongside Jayasurya and Jayaram. She gained wider recognition with 4 the People (2004), which became a major success and established her as a popular actress in Malayalam cinema.
She subsequently appeared in numerous Malayalam films, including Autograph (2004), Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008), Mayanadhi (2006), Annorikkal (2005), Pachamarathanalil (2008), and Bharya (2007). She also worked in Tamil cinema, appearing in films such as Autograph, Kana Kandaen, Em Magan, and Veeraappu.
Gopika was appreciated for her natural acting style and her ability to portray both emotional and family-oriented characters. Her performance in Veruthe Oru Bharya earned her the Asianet Film Award for Best Actress. Further, it strengthened her position as one of the notable actresses of Malayalam cinema in the 2000s.
In 2008, Gopika married Ajilesh Chacko, an Ireland-based doctor, and subsequently reduced her acting commitments. She later returned to Malayalam cinema and continued to make occasional appearances.
