Gretchen J. Berg, born on February 8, 1971, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an American television writer and producer renowned for collaborating with writing partner Aaron Harberts. The duo met at Northwestern University and have since contributed to numerous television series.
Berg began her career in the late 1990s, working on shows like "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Roswell." She and Harberts co-created and served as executive producers for "Pepper Dennis" and held co-executive producer roles on "Pushing Daisies." They also co-showran the medical drama "Mercy."
In 2010, Berg and Harberts secured a two-year deal with ABC Studios, during which they worked on "Off the Map" and later became showrunners for "GCB." Their collaboration with ABC continued as they joined "Revenge" as executive producers from its third season onward.
The pair's involvement with the "Star Trek" franchise began when they were recruited as executive producers for "Star Trek: Discovery" under showrunner Bryan Fuller, with whom they had previously worked on "Pushing Daisies." Following Fuller's departure, Berg and Harberts were promoted to showrunners. However, in June 2018, they exited the series amid reports of internal conflicts and allegations of abusive behavior towards the writing staff.
In 2019, Berg and Harberts joined NBC's musical comedy-drama "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" as writers and executive producers, contributing to the show's development and success.
