Gul Dharmani

Biography

Gul is an Indian filmmaker based in Mumbai, who most recently co-directed the highly acclaimed Netflix series Class, which became a global success and was featured on Netflix's global top 10 shows in its first week.

 

It opened to tremendous critical acclaim both domestically and internationally and featured in publications such as The Guardian, Forbes, and The Independent, among others.

 

Upon graduating from the three-year Film Direction program at FTII, Gul started her career as an associate director on the feature film Monsoon Shootout, directed by Amit Kumar and produced by Anurag Kashyap. 

 

She was also the associate director of the Gurvinder Singh feature film Alms of the Blind Horse produced by NFDC. Her short film, Friday Night, which she wrote and directed, premiered at the official selection of the prestigious Rotterdam International Film Festival and was acquired by ShortsTV for international distribution. 

 

She has subsequently directed for the series MTV Rush, created by Bejoy Nambiar, and wrote and directed the television short film The Girl in Me for MTV Films, a thriller produced by Ramesh Deo Productions.

 

She has also directed several TVCs and digital films for brands such as Hero, Lakme, Swiggy, Sofy, Gits, and Melorra. Currently, she is developing her own original feature film projects.
