Gurmmeet Singh

Biography

Gurmmeet Singh is a television and film director, dialogue writer, and actor. He has worked in the industry for over 20 years since his short film 'Fear This' was chosen for the Digital Talkies International Film Festival.

Before his directorial debut, Singh served as a second assistant director in Ramji Londonwaley (2005). The following year, he worked as an assistant director for the blockbuster hit Don (2006), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, directed by Farhan Akhtar

 

This catapulted Singh's career, and in 2007, he became an assistant director for Gandhi, My Father (2007), which won the Asia Pacific Screen Award and National Film Award for Best Screenplay.

In 2008, Singh joined Ashutosh Gowariker as an assistant director for Jodhaa Akbar (2008), starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He also assisted in directing the comedy-drama Fukrey Returns (2017).

Singh has since directed, produced, and written several films. In 2013, he made his directorial debut with Warning (2013), India's first 3D underwater movie. He also co-produced and directed episodes for two seasons of Inside Edge (2017), an Amazon Prime series nominated for the Emmys. 

 

Singh also drafted the story of Mubarakan (2017), starring Anil Kapoor, Ileana D'Cruz, Arjun Kapoor, and Athiya Shetty.

Singh also directed episodes of Mirzapur (2018) for two seasons. His most recent directorial project was Phone Bhoot (2022), starring Ishaan Khattar, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Katrina Kaif.
