Haidar Ali
Biography
Haidar Ali (born February 16, 1948), also known as Hyder Ali or Haider Ali, is an accomplished Indian actor and screenwriter known for his work in film and television. He gained recognition for his role as Raja in the iconic Doordarshan TV serial Nukkad (1986–87). Later, he achieved acclaim for writing the story of Ashutosh Gowariker's historical epic Jodhaa Akbar (2008), in which he also made a cameo appearance in the song Khwaja Mere Khwaja.
Haidar Ali began his television career in 1986 with the role of Raja in the Doordarshan series Nukkad, directed by Kundan Shah and Saeed Akhtar Mirza. He later appeared in Circus (1989), directed by Aziz Mirza, where he played the Ringmaster alongside Shahrukh Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker. Over the years, Ali established himself as a versatile character actor, collaborating with Aziz Mirza in films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), Chalte Chalte (2003), and Kismat Konnection (2008).
He also worked with Sudhir Mishra in Main Zinda Hoon (1988) and Khoya Khoya Chand (2007). His collaborations with Ashutosh Gowariker include Baazi (1995) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008), where he not only acted but also contributed as the film’s writer and co-screenplay writer. He made a cameo appearance in the song Khwaja Mere Khwaja in Jodhaa Akbar.
