Harshad

Biography

Harshad is an Indian screenwriter and filmmaker associated primarily with Malayalam cinema. He is best known for writing socially relevant and realistic stories.

His notable works include Dayom Panthrandum (2014), which he wrote and directed; Unda (2019), for which he wrote the screenplay; and Puzhu (2022), which he conceived and co-wrote with Sharfu and Suhas.

Unda, directed by Khalid Rahman and starring Mammootty, was based on the experiences of Kerala police personnel deployed for election duty in a Maoist-affected area. Harshad's screenplay was praised for its realistic treatment of the policemen and their circumstances.

For Puzhu, Harshad developed the story and co-wrote the screenplay with Sharfu and Suhas. The film, directed by Ratheena, starred Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu and explored themes of caste, prejudice, family relationships, and power.

Harshad has also written Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham (2023), directed by Muhashin and starring Basil Joseph.

He is regarded as a distinctive contemporary Malayalam writer, particularly for stories that combine social themes, realism and strong character-driven drama.
