Biography

Indrajith Sukumaran is a distinguished Indian actor and playback singer, predominantly recognized for his contributions to Malayalam cinema. Born on December 17, 1979, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, he hails from a family deeply rooted in the film industry. His parents, the late Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran were both esteemed actors, and his younger brother, Prithviraj Sukumaran, is also a prominent figure in South Indian cinema.

 

 

Early Life and Education

Indrajith's early education spanned various institutions due to his family's relocations. He attended Shrine Vailankanni Senior Secondary School in Chennai and St. Joseph's Boys School in Coonoor. Upon returning to Kerala, he continued his studies at The NSS Public School in Perunthanni and St. Mary's Residential Central School in Poojappura. 

 

He later enrolled at Sainik School Kazhakootam, where he excelled not only academically but also as the captain of the tennis team. Demonstrating a keen interest in both music and acting from a young age, Indrajith pursued a bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering from Rajaas Engineering College in Tirunelveli district. He briefly worked as a trainee in a software company before fully committing to a career in the film industry.

 

 

Film Career

Indrajith embarked on his acting journey as a child artist in the 1986 film "Padayani." He gained significant attention for his portrayal of the antagonist Eappen Pappachi in the 2002 blockbuster "Meesa Madhavan," directed by Lal Jose. This role established him as a versatile actor capable of handling diverse characters.

 

 

Throughout his career, Indrajith has appeared in over 90 films, showcasing his adaptability across various genres. Some of his notable works include:

"Runway" (2004): A high-octane action film where he delivered a compelling performance.

"Vesham" (2004): A drama that further solidified his reputation as a talented actor.

"Classmates" (2006): A coming-of-age film that became a significant milestone in his career.

"Chotta Mumbai" (2007): An action-comedy where he shared the screen with the legendary Mohanlal.

 

"Arabikkatha" (2007): A political drama that showcased his ability to tackle complex roles.

"Amen" (2013): A musical satire that earned him critical acclaim and several awards, including Best Supporting Actor at the TTK Prestige-Vanitha Film Awards.

 

"Left Right Left" (2013): A political thriller that highlighted his range as an actor.

"Lucifer" (2019): A political action thriller where he played a pivotal role alongside Mohanlal.

In addition to Malayalam cinema, Indrajith has ventured into other film industries. He has acted in Tamil, English, Telugu, and Hindi films, such as "En Mana Vaanil" (2002), "Before the Rains" (2007), "Sarvam" (2009), "Kavya's Diary" (2009), and "The Waiting Room" (2010).
