Biography

Japinder Kaur is an Indian film director, producer, writer, and painter, best known as the co-founder of JAP FILMS LLC, based in Dubai. She was born into a Sikh business family in Dubai and grew up alongside her brother. Coming from a supportive and entrepreneurial background, she developed a strong creative inclination early in life.

In 2017, she married businessman Harpreet Singh Chadha, marking an important milestone in her personal life.

Education

Japinder completed her schooling at The Indian High School, where she studied science with computer science as a major. She later pursued higher education at Manipal University Dubai, specializing in Television Production.

Driven by her passion for filmmaking, she continued her postgraduate studies at Whistling Woods International in Mumbai, where she trained in Film Direction and refined her cinematic skills.

Career

Japinder Kaur began her professional journey in 2008 as a news reporter and producer for City 7 TV. This early experience in media helped her understand storytelling and production from a practical perspective.

She then transitioned into filmmaking, directing short films and documentaries that were showcased at film festivals around the world. Her exposure to global cinema helped shape her unique narrative style.

Before stepping into feature filmmaking, she gained valuable experience assisting well-known directors such as Prakash Jha, Shashant Shah, and ad filmmaker Koushik Sarkar.

Japinder made her Bollywood directorial debut with the film Dilliwali Zaalim Girlfriend, produced under her own banner, JAP Films. The project marked her transition into mainstream cinema and established her as an independent filmmaker.

In 2018, she expanded her creative pursuits by entering the fashion industry. She launched the brand SnK Couture (Singh and Kaur) in Toronto. The label focuses on handcrafted classic cashmere designs and red carpet fashion, reflecting her artistic versatility.

Personal Life and Interests

Apart from filmmaking, Japinder Kaur is also a painter, showcasing her artistic expression through visual arts. She balances multiple creative roles, blending storytelling, fashion, and design into her professional identity.
