Biography

Jason Patric is an American film, television, and stage actor known for his intense and often dramatic performances. He was born on June 17, 1966, in Queens, New York City. His birth name is John Anthony Miller III. He is the son of actor and playwright Jason Miller and actress Linda Miller, and the grandson of legendary entertainer Jackie Gleason.

Career

Patric began his professional acting career in the mid-1980s, initially appearing in television productions. His feature-film breakthrough came with The Lost Boys (1987), the cult vampire film directed by Joel Schumacher, in which he played Michael Emerson. The film established him as a promising young actor.

He followed this with roles in films such as The Beast of War (1988), After Dark, My Sweet (1990), and Rush (1991). His performance in Rush, in which he portrayed an undercover narcotics officer struggling with drug addiction, received considerable critical praise.

During the 1990s, Patric appeared in Geronimo: An American Legend (1993), The Journey of August King (1995), Sleepers (1996), Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997), and Your Friends & Neighbors (1998). He also served as a producer on Your Friends & Neighbors, marking an expansion of his work beyond acting.

Later Work

Patric continued to take on dramatic and action-oriented roles in films including Narc (2002), The Alamo (2004), Downloading Nancy (2008), My Sister's Keeper (2009), and The Losers (2010). In My Sister's Keeper, he played Brian Fitzgerald, the father of a family dealing with his daughter's serious illness.

He also worked extensively in television, appearing in the series Wayward Pines and later in Law & Order: Organized Crime. His more recent film credits include The Vanished, The Yellow Birds, Terrifier 3, Armor, and A Line of Fire.

Stage Career

In addition to screen acting, Patric has maintained a strong connection with theater. His stage credits include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Bash, Beirut, The Tempest, Henry V, and Love's Labor's Lost. He also appeared in the Broadway revival of That Championship Season, a play originally written by his father, Jason Miller.
