Biography

Jerry Tokofsky was born in New York City to Julius H. Tokofsky and Rose Trager. He pursued higher education at New York University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in 1956, a Doctor of Laws in 1959, and a Master’s in American Literature in 1999. His early career began in the 1950s as a talent agent at the William Morris Agency in New York City. By the 1960s, he had transitioned into a studio executive role, becoming vice president at Columbia Pictures in 1966. He later held executive positions at Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in London during the early 1970s.

Hollywood Career

Tokofsky's Hollywood journey is marked by significant contributions as a producer and studio executive. In the 1970s, he produced films such as Where's Poppa? (1970) and Born to Win (1971), showcasing his knack for selecting compelling projects. He co-produced Dreamscape (1984) and Fear City (1984), further establishing his versatility in the industry.

Tokofsky's personal life includes three marriages. He married Myrna Weinstein in 1956, with whom he had two sons before their divorce. In 1970, he married Fiammetta Bettuzzi, and they had a daughter before divorcing. In 1981, he married Karen Oliver.
