Jim Gaffigan

Biography

Jim Gaffigan is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and author known for his observational humor, especially his material about food, family, fatherhood, and everyday life. He was born on July 7, 1966, in Elgin, Illinois.

Early Life and Career

Gaffigan grew up in Chesterton, Indiana, as the youngest of six children. He attended Georgetown University, where he initially studied finance. After graduating, he moved to New York City and began pursuing a comedy career.

His comedy career gradually gained attention through stand-up performances and television appearances. He became particularly popular for his distinctive style of humor and his use of a high-pitched internal voice to comment on his own jokes.

Film and Television Career

Gaffigan has appeared in numerous films and television programs. His film credits include Three Kings (1999), 17 Again (2009), Away We Go (2009), It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010), Three Days to Kill (2014), Being Frank (2018), and American Dreamer (2019).

He has also lent his voice to animated films, including Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018) and Duck Duck Goose (2018).

On television, he starred in The Jim Gaffigan Show (2015–2016), a sitcom loosely inspired by his life as a comedian and father. He has also appeared in series such as My Boys, Portlandia, Law & Order, Fargo, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
